Viola, being more than twice his age, enjoys his youth as a distraction from her alcoholic husband and they soon start a sexual relationship. Stig is a 15-year-old student who is exploring his sexuality when he deeply falls under the charm of his teacher Viola’s attractive maturity. All Things Fair (1995)Ī Swedish film set in the era of WWII, ‘All Things Fair’ is also the last film by Bo Widerberg and is set in the south of Sweden, where a story of controversial love and sexual desires takes place between a female teacher and her student. Widely considered as one of the most successful movies to date, time corrected, the movie also went on to win an Academy Award for the best background score. The relationship grows out of proportions, something even Hermie and his friends, who actively wanted to explore their sexualities but not to the extent of sex, couldn’t have imagined in the wildest of their dreams. Enter Dorothy, the wife of an army pilot whose husband is on the war front.Īlthough Hermie is the emotional chap from his group, he approaches Dorothy, and both form a symbiotic relationship wherein Dorothy would meet Hermie in exchange for small chores. ‘Summer of ’42’ follows a rather simplistic storyline -during the summer of 1942, three pubescent teenagers – Hermie, Oscy, and Benjie – are leading an idyllic life, far from the commotion of the second world war. And mind you, it was released in 1971 when such a relationship could’ve been more stigmatized than what it is today.
If you are interested, you might be able to stream some of these movies like Malizia on Netflix or Amazon Prime, or even Hulu.Īs is evident from the posters or trailers, ‘Summer of ’42’ is one of the boldest “Older Woman Younger Man” movies to date. Here’s the list of movies similar to Malizia that are our recommendations. Controversies aside, there are few films that can delve into a subject of taboo and execute it with precision and honesty. It tries to understand the psychology behind it, which to some might seem uncomfortable. But films like Malizia (Malicious) explore more profound themes apart from that related to sex. They re-teamed in Tinto Brass's classic study of prostitution PAPRIKA, but not in major roles. The idea of an affair between a younger man with an older woman might not be disturbing in fact, some people will find it even sensuous. Basically it's only watchable to gaze at the too-good-to-be-real Demy and the full-figured Debora Cali as Luna. Even a scene where Luna is nearly raped by a pair of hooligans, turns into a cheap action sequence involving a budget-busting helicopter.
Pleasant enough photography of touristy Italian locations makes it easy enough to watch, but Bergonzelli's melodramatic edge is sorely missed. Add to the menage Luna's rich & goofy dad, who keeps cheating on Demy with their black (but blonde-haired) housemaid and you have cornball swinging sex action. Film's incest theme is not explicit but strictly roundabout, as the four main protagonists: Luna and her knockout step-mom (Valentine Demy, a beauty from Tinto Brass's stable) and hero and his dad mix & match bed partners. Heroine Luna is a dance student who plays a practical joke on her Germanic dance teacher, having her kidnapped by a cretinous handyman who works at the disco (directed in very poor taste, and quite unfunny), so that her boyfriend's dad can replace her as teacher/choreographer. There is an inordinately long disco scene in the middle of MALIZIA OGGI, centering around the film's thematic link to dance. Instead we have generic soft porn reminiscent of those frothy German sex comedies with Olivia Pascal and a disco score. It does not resemble at all Salvatore Samperi's classic Laura Antonelli film MALIZIA, nor the goof-ball swingers SB made like IN THE FOLDS OF THE FLESH or EROS HOTEL. Seems SB had the starch knocked out of him somewhere along the line, judging from the timid results here. This escapist romp many years later is dullsville, and apparently was his final movie. Sergio Bergonzelli made a name for himself in the '70s for outrageously sleazy sex films of the "bad = good" category.
